The Latin name of lavender is Lavare, which means “to wash.” It is so by virtue of its pleasant aroma. Lavender Oil is extracted from the flowers of the lavender plant through a process called steam distillation. The flowers have sweet fragrance and are known for making potpourri. The oil is also used for aromatherapy, for perfumes and in gels, infusions, lotions, and soaps.
