Commonly categorized under nuts, Almonds are actually the seeds of the fruits that an almond tree yields. The scientific almonds are Prunus dulcis and are native to the Middle East, India and North Africa; though also found at their places like Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, and Israel.
Available in a range of sweet to bitter, the sweet almonds are edible whereas the bitter ones are used for making almond oil. The seed can be eaten raw but is also usually added to salads and other dishes. Almond milk is primarily used by people as an alternative to cow milk; also making it a vegan choice of food. It is advised to soak almonds overnight, peel off the skin and then consume it in the morning on an empty stomach for more absorption of their nutrients.
